Financial advisers together after a Finwise Leadership GROW workshop session
Program 1

Personalised mentoring to elevate your career path.

The financial advice profession has more career paths today than at any point in its history. Employed adviser inside a licensee, Corporate Authorised Representative (CAR) running your own brand, fully self-licensed AFSL, salaried inside a super fund, each route has trade-offs.

Julie helps you pick the one that matches your life, your appetite for risk, and your 5-year vision, without the regret most advisers feel three years after the choice.

  • Define your next career move, Employed, CAR Owner, or Self-Licensed
  • Receive tailored expert guidance aligned to your goals
  • Build confidence to take the next step in your professional journey
  • Map a 12-month transition plan you can actually execute

Program 2

Building a business asset with the right structure.

Most advisers build a job they can't sell. The difference between a practice and a saleable business is structure: how the entity is set up, how clients are documented, how the revenue is contracted, how key person risk is managed.

Julie has run her own AFSL business. She has advised buyers and sellers across Australian financial planning practices. She knows what a buyer pays a premium for, and what they discount.

  • Discover the most effective business structures for profitability and flexibility
  • Minimise risks and maximise financial security whether buying or selling
  • Deliver great advice while building a valuable business asset
  • Practical exit planning, even if exit is 10 years away

Program 3 · Co-presented by Julie & Marie

The Finwise Pricing WISDOM Method.

Standard 7 of the Code of Ethics requires advisers to ensure free, prior and informed consent to all benefits, including fees. Most advisers can't actually defend how they arrived at the number on the SoA. This program fixes that.

Backed by the Finwise Calculator, the pricing workshop teaches the model: cost-to-serve, complexity loading, recurring vs project, when to walk away from a client. Run it as a workshop or pair it with the Finwise Calculator.

  • Understand the true value of your advice and charge what you're worth
  • Build a pricing model that supports sustainable growth
  • Gain clarity on fee structures and Standard 7 compliance
  • Walk out with a fee schedule ready to deploy next quarter

Program 4

Ethics training, minus boring.

Most ethics CPD is a click-through. The Finwise ethics workshop is built around the GRACE ethics model, adapted specifically for financial planners and aligned to the Code of Ethics, so participants leave with a simple, repeatable process they can use the next time a tricky client situation lands on their desk.

Real advice scenarios. Defensible decisions inside 5 business days. Stronger professional judgement that survives an AFCA complaint.

  • Unpack real dilemmas and spot the ethical issues hidden in everyday scenarios
  • The GRACE model: a step-by-step guide for ethical decision making
  • Identify conflicts, weigh options, choose actions aligned to the Code
  • Communicate ethical reasoning with confidence, to clients and to your licensee

Built for: Licensee ethics training programs · Professional Year candidates · Whole advice teams looking to strengthen reasoning and reduce compliance risk.

Common questions

Workshops & mentoring FAQs

Who are the workshops and mentoring for?
For established financial advisers and practice owners, whether you are employed, running a Corporate Authorised Representative, or self-licensed. Paraplanners and advisers weighing up their next move are welcome too. If you are starting your Professional Year, the Professional Year program is the better fit.
How is this different from the Professional Year program?
The Professional Year program is a structured 12-month pathway for new advice candidates and their supervisors. Workshops and mentoring are for advisers already in the profession who want to sharpen their career direction, business structure, or pricing.
How do I know which program is right for me?
Book a free 30-minute call and Julie will point you to the right program based on where your practice is now. If the timing is not right, she will say so and suggest when to come back.
Will I work with Julie and Marie directly?
Yes. Workshops and 1:1 mentoring are led personally by Julie and Marie, not a rotating panel of facilitators. The Pricing WISDOM Method is co-presented by both. The continuity is the point.
Is 1:1 mentoring available remotely, or only in person?
1:1 mentoring runs fortnightly over Zoom or Teams for advisers across Australia and New Zealand. On-site mentoring is available for WA practices on request. Places are limited to six advisers at a time.
How long is the 1:1 mentoring commitment?
Mentoring runs over 6 or 12 months, with fortnightly sessions.
Where are the workshops held?
Public workshops run quarterly in Perth, Sydney, and Melbourne. In-house sessions are delivered at your practice, and virtual delivery is available for teams outside WA.
Can the workshops be run in-house for our team?
Yes. Half-day and full-day in-house sessions are available, tailored to your practice's services, client mix, and goals.
What is the minimum group size for in-house sessions?
There's no strict minimum. The standard workshop is built for groups of up to five, so a solo adviser or a small team can run it in-house. For groups larger than five, the program is fully customised to your practice.
Can a licensee or dealer group bring this to its members?
Yes. Finwise can run a workshop series across a member network, with bulk pricing available when paired with Calculator access. Ask Julie about a licensee partnership.
What's the difference between the pricing workshop and the Finwise Calculator?
The workshop teaches the pricing model and sends you out with a fee schedule ready to use. The Calculator is the ongoing tool that builds and documents each fee against Standard 7. Many advisers start with the workshop, then move to the Calculator.
What results can I expect?
It depends on where you start. Common outcomes are a defensible fee schedule, a clearer career or ownership path, and a practice structured to be sold rather than simply worked in. Julie has reviewed more than 300 practices, and most are underpricing by 20 to 40 percent.
Do the workshops count towards CPD?
Yes. CPD accreditation is arranged with the FAAA once your workshop is booked. Because FAAA accreditation lapses after 12 months, Finwise arranges it per booking rather than holding it speculatively, so your hours and category are confirmed for your specific session.
