Leading Finwise’s next stage of growth with advice practices and partners
by Julie Matheson CFP®, Finwise™ Leadership
Finwise Leadership Australia has announced the appointment of Marie Richardson as Head of Growth & Partnerships. The appointment strengthens the firm's capability to support financial advisers to build sustainable, profitable and client-focused businesses.
Richardson brings more than 40 years of experience in financial planning to the role. She was among the first advisers in Australia to adopt a fee-for-service model, transitioning her own practice in 1990. Over the following three decades she developed systems and processes that helped shape successful value-based advice businesses, and she mentored hundreds of advisers along the way.
Her professional recognition includes being a finalist for Telstra Businesswoman of the Year and receiving the Asset Magazine Succession Planning Award. She has also lectured at university level and served on Financial Planning Association committees.
In her new role, Richardson will work with Finwise founder Julie Matheson CFP®, a former FPA/FAAA Board Director, to lead growth and partnership initiatives across the business, including the Finwise® Pricing WISDOM Method and the Gold Standard of Advice Pricing program. She will also support the expansion of Finwise’s Professional Year and Career Mentoring services, which help emerging advisers develop the technical, commercial and professional skills they need to succeed in the profession.
Matheson said the appointment added significant depth of experience to the Finwise leadership team.
“Marie was developing fee-for-service systems long before there was an established blueprint for advisers to follow. Her practical experience and deep understanding of advice businesses will help advisers build confidence in their pricing, strengthen profitability and better communicate their value to clients. She also has a rare ability to cut through technical jargon, so clients understand and appreciate the care their adviser shows them,” Matheson said.
Richardson said the advice profession had a significant opportunity to strengthen both practice performance and client outcomes.
“Pricing is an ethical conversation as much as a commercial one. Advisers need the confidence to clearly articulate their value so that both the client and the business benefit. I’m excited to take on this role to help advisers build sustainable businesses and to support the next generation entering the profession through our Professional Year Mentoring initiatives,” Richardson said.
The appointment comes as Finwise expands its adviser career coaching, consulting and technology solutions, including the Finwise Calculator, Revenue Leak Audit and Professional Year Mentoring service.
